re_fashion Textile Materials Library

In order to test new spectroscopic methods for textile material identification, we need textile samples with known material composition. And to train an AI model to analyze spectral data, we need a lot of such samples of different textile material and material blends. Unfortunately, the declaration by textile manufacturers cannot always be trusted and separate testing of the material by other methods is intricate and expensive. Fortunately for us, re_fashion put in the effort to put together the Textile Materials Library of more than 400 known textile samples. Fashion for Good, a global initiative based in Amsterdam, was so kind as to lend it to us for our spectroscopic analysis! Seems like we have some work cut out for us in the lab to test our spectroscopic method on all the samples of the material library.
